Following the completion of my Economics degree in 2005 it was time for me to pursue my ambition of becoming a chartered accountant. The wide spectrum of work-types associated with being employed by a local general practitioner was very appealing to me and, being from Durham, Pullan Barnes was an obvious target for employment.

My role within the firm has changed in-step with the development of my technical knowledge and skills. The majority of my working-life is spent providing clients with a management accounting service, which lends itself very well to planning for future tax liabilities. As well as this, I also prepare year-end, statutory, accounts, carry out audits of financial statements, provide Sage training and support, and am involved with work on the various taxes (corporation, personal, value added, etc.)

I enjoy working at Pullan Barnes because no two pieces of work are ever the same; I have developed a wide ranging knowledge covering most day-to-day management issues but if I am ever unsure of anything I know I can call on support from the rest of the team.

I like to think I’m doing my part to eradicate the stereotypical accountant image, being a keen bodybuilder and power-lifter, and holding first-degree black belts in two different martial arts.
