My name is Kathleen Thompson and I am the office manager. I am involved with the day to day management of the practice as well as supporting the team with their roles.

I started working for Pullan Barnes in January 1991 soon after my youngest son had started school. My role was to manage the Tax Department. I had previously worked as a Tax Officer for the Inland Revenue.

The biggest change that I have been involved with was the introduction by the Inland Revenue of Self Assessment in 1997. The words ‘deadline’ and ‘penalty’ became part of my vocabulary; the former had to be met and the latter avoided at any cost! The best thing for me to come from Self Assessment has been ‘The Pullan Barnes Team Spirit’. When the pressure is on to meet deadlines we support and encourage each other to ensure that we provide our clients with a first class service.

For many years I went to watch football matches at Sunderland AFC with my dad and these days I often spend my weekends watching my sons play for a local team or joining them and my husband to watch Sunderland.

I cannot write about myself and not mention my favourite pastime, shopping; I am the original happy shopper. Any time any place anywhere, none of this on-line shopping lark for me!
